Fair Trade, Not Free Trade: Rebuilding American Manufacturing
Updated: 2 hours ago
For decades, Washington pursued trade deals that opened American markets to foreign competitors while doing little to hold those same countries accountable for unfair practices, currency manipulation, and state-subsidized industry. The result was predictable: American factories closed, communities lost their economic base, and strategic industries moved overseas.
Trade policy as a tool, not an ideology
The Coalition for American Abundance supports trade policy that treats fair competition as the goal, not an afterthought. That means using tariffs and trade enforcement strategically to protect industries essential to our economic and national security, while pushing back on nations that subsidize their way to an unfair advantage.
This isn't about closing America off from the world. It's about ensuring that American workers and American companies compete on a level playing field, not one tilted by foreign subsidies and non-tariff barriers.
